- Dagwoods is opening a new location in Raytown, in the former Breakfast and Lunch Lovers space, at 6204 Raytown Trafficway.
- Gaia Masala & Burger just opened in Westport at 425 Westport Road. The Colorado-based concept offers Indian, American, and Mediterranean food with lots of veg options.
- Pegah’s Family Restaurant is opening a new location at 13109 Holmes Road, in Martin City (south KCMO).
- Salty Iguana is closing all of their locations in Kansas City and Lawrence. Two locations were recently closed for non-payment of taxes.
- Toni’s Italian Restaurant is closing their Olathe location, citing anticipated disruption from a big highway project.
- Tequilas Restaurant Bar & Grill on Parvin Road in north KCMO has closed temporarily for building upgrades.
- Brio Italian Grille abruptly closed in January The restaurant has been a feature in the Country Club Plaza for decades. The reasons for the closure have been unclear a this time.
- Nautical Bowls closed its Overland Park and Kansas City locations at the end of December. Chuck had been hoping to try out one of their “healthy” bowls, but time ran out.
- The Mill Cafe is a new coffee shop on Hickman Mills Drive, run by students from Ruskin High School.
- SAKI, a popular sushi restaurant in south Overland Park, has plans to open a second location in Missouri. More details as we learn more.
- Luca Bagel Co. has found a permanent home at 633 E. 63rd Street in Brookside, KCMO.
- Crows Coffee has bought some buildings and property on Troost Avenue to create a roasterie and bakery. The building was an artist studio 15 years ago and a boxing gym in the early 20th century.
