- Exclusive Jerk Bar & Grill recently opened in the Watts Mill shopping strip on 103rd Street (off of State Line Road in south KCMO). They are a Caribbean / Jamaican concept.
- Laney’s Get Down is a new chicken restaurant in Westport, located in the former McCoy’s space. McCoy’s is missed by many, especially this food critic. They describe themselves: “Our chicken is farm fresh, locally sourced & hand breaded. We cook it in a pressure fryer with high quality oil and serve it with biscuits, sides, sauces & sweets that are made from scratch daily. Simple, honest, tasty food that lives up to our favorite family recipes.” They are also promising live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
- Aldi opened a new store at 119th and Metcalf on December 5th.
- Triple Crown Coffee + Eats + Events opened recently in Westport at 4001 Broadway Blvd. This was a former location of Ruby Jean’s Juicery.
- Tortilla Ranch closes in Mission. Chuck visits the one in Overland Park last week and was very impressed.
- Paulie D’s Pizza in Mission closes.
- Playa & Mezcal Mexican Seafood just opened at 4601 Shawnee Drive in Kansas City, Kansas.
- It’s now confirmed that Tiki Taco is opening a new location in Olathe.
- Toni’s Italian Restaurant just opened a location in Shawnee at 22716 Midland Drive.
- Popular Mediterranean concept, Jerusalem Cafe, is opening a food stall inside the World Fresh Market at 10303 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park. Chuck reported on the opening of the large international market a few months back.
