Do you remember the restaurant where you dined inside actual train cars and the signature dish was prime rib? There were two Kansas City locations of this international chain, which had 97 restaurants during its heyday of the 1970s and 1980s.
I was a resident of Lawrence, Kansas from 1983 to 1989. During most of this period, I was a student at the University of Kansas. This look back is biased a little bit towards this era. Even though I have lived in the area since the early 2000s, I don’t think I’ve dined at any Lawrence restaurants since then. I need to change that!
The best veggie burger I’ve ever eaten was the Portabella-bachi at the old Swagger restaurant on Wornall Road near 85th Street in Kansas City, Missouri.
